Long Lake Rowing Crew was launched in 2014 by a small group of passionate individuals who
wanted to bring the lifelong sport of rowing to the Orono and Long Lake communities. Founded as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, volunteer-driven organization, Long Lake Rowing provides aspiring and experienced rowers of all ages with unique opportunities to practice, learn and race, both as individuals and as a team.
Ideal for high school students from the west metro area who are interested in alternatives to traditional team sports and adults who want to learn and participate in a low-impact outdoor sport, Long Lake Rowing programs are fun and rewarding.
Thanks to the support of the Cties of Orono and Long Lake, and our partnerships with other local organizations, we’ve shared rowing with more than 400 local residents. Our teams have competed successfully at US Rowing Youth Nationals, the renowned Head of the Charles Regatta and other national regattas.
Long Lake Rowing Crew values our local community, and strives to give back through many volunteer efforts. LLRC has been involved with the Orono Lions Snow Ball Open, Long Lake Corn Days, cleaning the local Union Cemetery, volunteering at the Long Lake Fire Dept Red Hot 5k, painting the picnic tables at Nelson Park, and volunteering at Feed My Starving Children.
We have volunteered at Orono Lions Snow Ball Open, the Long Lake Fire Dept 5k, Union Cemetery Spring Clean up, Feed My Starving Children, and Long Lake Corn Days, and received a community service award from the City Council of Long Lake in 2019!
