Our Juniors program draws athletes from several area high schools; Orono, Wayzata, Minnetonka, Blake, Breck & Benilde. Our team has had significant successes over the past 6 years, sending several boats to US Rowing Youth Nationals, winning the NWIRA Juniors Points Award. Many of our LLRC graduates, have gone on to row at the collegiate level, because of the start they had with LLRC.  Our alum have gone on to row at Madison, Syracuse, U Washington, Williams, Smith, Dartmouth, and Boston University!

Indoor Training:

We offer indoor training in the winter months, for rowers to focus on conditioning and prepare themselves to be in top shape for hitting the water, when the ice melts!  Our juniors train at the Long Lake Fire Dept. under the expert  guidance of Coach Nicholas Miller.  Training focuses on cardio conditioning on rowing ergometers, along with strength and core work.

We offer training in one month sessions, to accomodate rowers returning from winter sports! Sign up for all Jan-Feb-March for optimal benefits!

February 2021 Update: Due to COVID, we are currently not holding any indoor group practices. We hope to start bringing our team back together in March for group training, depending on current health & safety recommendations with COVID.

We are ready to launch our summer rowing program! While this season will look a bit different than other years due to COVID-19, we are confident you'll all have fun, experience great rowing and expert coaching!  We will follow all CDC, MDH guidelines to ensure rowers' health and safety.

Practices will consist of small groups of no more than 10 rowers, with groups typically being 6-7 rowers. All rowers will be in singles unless they live in the same household. With small groups, everyone will receive very personalized, high quality, focused coaching. This will be a summer of strong skills development due to the smaller coach to athlete ratio.

  • Coached practices begin June 1st.  For the month of June, rowers will initially have 2 practices per week. As we ease into this new season and adjust to the changes in our routines for cleaning, launching and docking, we will closely monitor how our practices are going. If there are any changes from the Governor, we will adjust accordingly to be in compliance.  We hope to be able to offer additional practices as restrictions ease.  Once we see how our first few weeks of practice roll out, we hope to be able to offer and additional practice session; which would be held on either Friday or Saturday mornings.
